Despite his status as a football official, Artan was flagged at Miami International Airport after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discovered derogatory information linking him to suspected members of terror organizations. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, this information rendered him ineligible for admission.
White House World Cup Task Force lead Andrew Giuliani affirmed the decision, stating it was the correct move to protect the homeland.
While Artan attempted to downplay the findings during an 11-hour interrogation, the administration’s stance is clear: security threats will not be permitted to enter the country, regardless of their professional credentials or international standing.
Artan, who was subject to the entry restrictions placed on Somalia by President Trump in 2025, was subsequently removed from the country.
