President Donald Trump is safe after a harrowing assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, allegedly opened fire near a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton, carrying two guns and knives with the clear intent to target the President and his administration.

Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that preliminary findings suggest the gunman was specifically hunting administration officials, with a recovered manifesto detailing his hateful agenda. The Secret Service acted with precision, successfully intercepting the attacker and evacuating the President and Vice-President JD Vance.

One officer was struck during the exchange of fire, but his protective vest prevented a tragedy. President Trump, who remained defiant throughout the ordeal, praised his security detail as 'great people' and later emphasized the need for national peace.

This marks the third time the President has faced a direct threat to his life during his tenure, following incidents in Pennsylvania and Florida.

As the FBI and terrorism task forces investigate the suspect's background and radical motives, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by those who harbor violent hatred toward American leadership.

The suspect is expected to face federal charges, including assault of a federal officer, as the nation grapples with yet another attempt to undermine our democratic institutions through violence.
