Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, took to the stage in Melbourne this week to declare herself the 'most trolled person in the entire world' over the last ten years.

Speaking alongside Prince Harry at Swinburne University of Technology, Markle lectured the audience on the 'billion-dollar industry' of social media, claiming it is 'anchored and predicated on cruelty.' The couple, currently on a four-day tour of Australia as non-working royals, used the platform to voice support for the country's under-16 social media ban.

Prince Harry praised the ban as 'epic' from a leadership standpoint, despite also insisting that young people should not be punished for the failures of tech companies to provide safe platforms.

While the couple spent their time criticizing the business models of tech giants, Prince Harry also participated in a separate workplace culture summit in Melbourne where tickets were sold for as much as A$2,400 per person.

During his appearance at that event, the Prince spoke at length about his personal experiences with grief and his life under public scrutiny. The couple also participated in a cultural walking tour, meeting with locals who expressed support for their transition to private life.

Despite their claims of being victims of a cruel digital landscape, the former royals continue to leverage their public profile for high-profile speaking engagements and international tours.
