Lindsay and Craig Foreman, a British couple currently serving 10-year prison sentences in Iran’s notorious Evin prison, are now calling for government intervention after their motorcycle tour of the country resulted in their arrest on espionage charges.

The pair, who were detained in January 2025 after crossing into Iran from Armenia, admit they were fully aware of the Foreign Office travel advice explicitly warning British nationals against entering the country.

Despite this, they chose to proceed with their trip, with Lindsay Foreman acknowledging that she accepts responsibility for the choice to visit a regime known for its hostility toward the West.

The couple, who were conducting research for a life coaching project, found themselves in the crosshairs of Iranian authorities who viewed their activities with suspicion.

While the couple maintains their innocence and describes their incarceration as a waste of their lives, the reality remains that they voluntarily entered a jurisdiction where the rule of law is nonexistent and the risk of arbitrary detention is a known factor.

The couple is currently being held in separate cells within the same facility, enduring the harsh conditions of a prison system that has been the site of numerous human rights abuses.

As they await potential diplomatic efforts to secure their release, their situation serves as a stark reminder of the dangers inherent in ignoring official state travel warnings and entering hostile, rogue states.
