Trump Administration Hammers Cuban Regime with New Sanctions

Secretary of State Marco Rubio targets state-owned enterprises and communist propagandists to choke off the regime's export of Marxism.

The Trump administration is turning up the heat on the Castro-era remnants in Havana, announcing a new wave of sanctions targeting the Cuban regime's financial and ideological infrastructure.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that nine state-owned mining, metal, and construction firms, along with the Ministry of Construction, are now under the microscope. These measures are a direct response to the regime's ongoing efforts to export Marxism, racial resentment, and communist violence across the globe.

The sanctions specifically target the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), a long-standing propaganda arm used to network with international sympathizers. Among those designated is ICAP president Fernando Gonzalez Llort, a convicted member of a Cuban spy ring.

Rubio rightly identified the group as a vehicle for misleading and corrupting citizens through espionage and malfeasance.

While the Cuban Foreign Ministry predictably whined about the sanctions harming their economy, the reality is that the regime’s own decades-long failure to provide for its people—coupled with its obsession with repression—is the true cause of the island's misery.

By cutting off the funds that fuel the regime's subversive activities, the Trump administration is making it clear that the United States will no longer tolerate the funding of anti-American aggression on its doorstep.
