The Russian military has launched a massive, coordinated assault on Ukraine, firing hundreds of drones and missiles in one of the largest attacks since the 2022 invasion. The strikes, which hit over 180 sites including more than 50 residential buildings, have resulted in at least 12 deaths in Kyiv, including two children.

Emergency crews are currently sifting through the rubble of a nine-story apartment block in the Darnytskyi district, with at least 20 people still feared missing.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Moscow launched over 670 drones and 56 missiles in the latest barrage, bringing the total number of drones deployed since Tuesday night to more than 1,560. While Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted a significant portion of the drones, the country remains critically vulnerable to ballistic missiles.

Zelensky has emphasized that the priority remains securing more anti-ballistic systems, specifically US-made Patriot batteries, to defend against these strikes. The attacks follow the expiration of a short-lived, US-brokered ceasefire that failed to hold.

As the war continues to grind on, Ukrainian officials are calling on global leaders to exert maximum pressure on Moscow to halt the aggression.

Meanwhile, in a separate domestic development, a Ukrainian court has ordered 60 days of pretrial detention for Andriy Yermak, a former top aide to Zelensky, amid a high-profile corruption and money-laundering investigation.
