Ukraine Strikes Deep Inside Russia to Cripple Putin's War Machine

Kyiv hits oil refineries and shadow fleet vessels as Moscow continues its brutal assault on Ukrainian civilians.

Ukraine has taken the fight directly to the source of Russia's war funding, launching precision strikes against two major oil refineries deep within Russian territory.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Bashkortostan and the Slavneft-Yanos refinery in Yaroslavl were targeted to choke off the oil revenues Moscow uses to sustain its aggression.

These strikes, reaching as far as 1,300km from the Ukrainian border, demonstrate a clear resolve to dismantle the infrastructure that enables Putin’s war machine. In addition to the refineries, Ukraine successfully hit Russian military patrol boats and vessels belonging to the 'shadow fleet' used to circumvent international sanctions on oil exports.

While the Kremlin attempts to downplay the damage, verified footage shows massive plumes of smoke rising from the burning facilities. This tactical escalation comes as Russia continues its campaign of terror against the Ukrainian people, with recent strikes killing at least 11 civilians and plunging the city of Kherson into a total blackout.

Russia’s continued targeting of civilian energy and transport hubs proves that the only language the Kremlin understands is strength. By hitting these economic and military targets, Ukraine is taking necessary action to force an end to a conflict that began with Putin's unprovoked invasion in 2022.
