Jared Kushner, serving as a Middle East envoy, recently concluded a lengthy four-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a high-stakes effort to restart a stalled Gaza peace roadmap.

The administration’s plan, overseen by the President’s Board of Peace, remains clear: there will be no reconstruction in Gaza without the total disarmament of Hamas. While Kushner described the meeting as productive and noted that valid Israeli concerns were addressed, the path forward remains fraught with tension.

Israel has previously rejected the 15-point plan, citing the critical need for a genuine military pull-out only after Hamas is stripped of its ability to wage war.

Kushner, who also held rare and cautious talks with Hamas representatives, acknowledged the difficulty of trusting a terrorist organization responsible for the October 7 atrocities, stating that while the group said the right things, they must now prove their intentions through action.

Meanwhile, working groups have been established to focus on the immediate priorities of disarmament and public health. Despite international pressure from various regional powers, Israel continues to prioritize its national security, wary of any deal that might allow Hamas to retain its weapons or reclaim a governing role in the territory.

As the IDF continues to target terrorists in Gaza, the administration remains focused on a strategy that demands accountability from Hamas before any transition of governing responsibilities can occur.
