The administration is fighting a 'dangerous' court-ordered construction halt on a privately funded project vital to national security.

President Trump is taking his fight to the Supreme Court, seeking to prevent a lower court from stalling the construction of a $400 million ballroom at the White House. The project, which is already 65% complete, is being funded entirely by private corporate donations rather than taxpayer dollars. Solicitor General D.

John Sauer filed an emergency application to stay a recent appeals court order that would force work to stop on August 21. The administration correctly argues that forcing the President to go 'hat-in-hand' to Congress for permission to manage the White House is a dangerous precedent that grants the legislature improper leverage over executive operations.

Beyond serving as an event space, the project includes critical infrastructure such as bomb shelters and medical facilities essential for national security. The National Trust for Historic Preservation, which sued to block the project, claims the administration bypassed required review processes.

However, the administration maintains that the project is a necessary upgrade to the People's House and that the judicial attempt to enforce a 'construction-by-injunction' is an inequitable overreach. Chief Justice John Roberts has ordered the Trust to respond to the filing by Tuesday as the administration pushes to complete the renovation.
