Trump Administration Ends Wind Energy Boondoggle, Pivots to Reliable Natural Gas

The Department of the Interior has secured a $1.2 billion payout to scrap offshore wind leases, clearing the way for American energy independence.

The era of subsidizing unreliable 'green' energy projects is coming to a swift end. The Trump administration has successfully negotiated a $1.2 billion agreement with German energy giant RWE to abandon its offshore wind projects in the United States.

Recognizing that these projects lacked a viable future, RWE has agreed to relinquish its leases off the coasts of California, Louisiana, and the New York Bight.

Rather than wasting capital on unsightly and inefficient turbines, the company will now pivot its investment toward conventional gas projects, including a $900 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Louisiana.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum rightfully noted that Americans deserve an energy system built on common sense, not one propped up by costly subsidies. This move is a major victory for the 'drill, baby, drill' agenda, which prioritizes national energy security over the climate alarmist obsession with windmills.

This deal follows similar successful efforts by the administration to terminate offshore wind leases with TotalEnergies and Duke Energy, replacing them with commitments to develop vital oil and natural gas infrastructure.

By clearing the regulatory path for fossil fuels, the administration is ensuring that the United States remains a global energy powerhouse rather than a nation beholden to unreliable, subsidized power sources.
