The Flydubai aircraft after its emergency landing appears to show it has sustained damage to its tail fin.

A mid-air nightmare was averted this week when a courageous pilot and a group of passengers thwarted an attempted hijacking on a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv. The attacker, who stabbed the Indian captain, Smit Machchhar, reportedly attempted to crash the plane, causing it to plummet 17,000 feet.

Despite suffering serious injuries, Captain Machchhar displayed immense resolve, successfully opening the cockpit door and allowing passengers to intervene. Passenger Yaniv Hayun described putting the attacker in a chokehold while others used zip ties and headphones to restrain him.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Machchhar as a 'true hero' for his actions, which prevented a mid-air catastrophe. The suspect is currently in custody in Saudi Arabia and is expected to be transferred to the UAE for further investigation.

While Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has characterized the incident as an 'attempted jihadist terror attack,' Prime Minister Netanyahu stated it is currently too early to confirm whether Iran played a role in the plot. The flight, carrying 174 people, was safely diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following the emergency.

As the investigation into potential terrorist activity continues, Flydubai has suspended all flights to and from Israel.
