The conflict in Eastern Europe has reached a new level of intensity as Russian forces unleashed a massive barrage of 70 missiles and over 600 drones against Ukrainian targets. The strikes, which left 11 people dead and dozens injured, caused widespread destruction, including a fire at the 11th-century Dormition Cathedral in Kyiv.
Ukrainian officials condemned the attack on the religious site, while Moscow claimed, without providing evidence, that a U.S.-manufactured Patriot missile may have been responsible for the damage. The strikes also crippled infrastructure, leaving 140,000 residents in Kyiv without power.
The violence was not one-sided; local officials in the Russian city of Tula reported that a Ukrainian drone attack killed three people and wounded three others, including a one-year-old child. As the G7 prepares to meet in France to discuss the ongoing war, President Zelensky is calling for increased air defense support and further pressure on the Kremlin.
The exchange of fire underscores the brutal reality of a conflict that continues to claim civilian lives and destroy cultural landmarks, with both sides showing no signs of backing down.
