Russian Missile Barrage Kills 21 as Zelensky Blames Western Supply Delays

The Kremlin claims it targeted military logistics hubs while Kyiv reports a critical shortage of Patriot interceptors.

A devastating overnight assault by Russian forces has claimed the lives of at least 21 people, marking one of the deadliest days in the region this year. The attack, which involved 24 ballistic missiles and 115 drones, struck targets in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk.

While Ukrainian officials reported that air defenses intercepted 98 of the incoming drones, they failed to stop the ballistic missile barrage. President Volodymyr Zelensky pointed directly to the failure of Western allies to provide sufficient Patriot missile interceptors, stating that current supply levels have been significantly reduced.

The Russian Ministry of Defense asserted that the strikes were successful, claiming they hit logistics hubs, weapons storage facilities, and production centers for unmanned aerial vehicles in the Kyiv region, as well as cargo vessels near Odesa.

As fires continue to burn across 230,000 square meters in the Kyiv region, the data confirms a troubling trend: Ukrainian missile interception rates have plummeted from 66.7% last year to 44.4% this month, even as Russian launch volume has spiked by 83%.

The conflict continues to escalate on both sides, with Ukraine launching its own drone strikes against Russian industrial sites, including a warehouse in the Tula region, as the war of attrition grinds on with no clear end in sight.
