A drone strike on a popular beach near the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka in Russia’s Krasnodar region has left seven people dead, including three children, and at least 40 others injured. Footage verified by the BBC shows the drone plummeting toward a cliffside before detonating on the beach, where tourists were gathered.

Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev labeled the incident a deliberate strike on civilians, though the specific target of the drone remains unclear. Some reports suggest the drone may have been diverted by electronic warfare or damaged by air defense fire before impact.

This tragedy occurs as Ukraine continues to expand its long-range strike capabilities, frequently targeting energy infrastructure and commercial warehouses deep within Russian territory.

While Kyiv maintains that these facilities are utilized for military purposes, such as the supply chains for the retailer Wildberries, the result has been an increasing number of civilian casualties on both sides of the border.

The incident follows a weekend of intense violence, with Russian missile strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities also resulting in significant loss of life, underscoring the brutal reality of a conflict that shows no signs of de-escalation.
