President Bola Tinubu is taking decisive action to restore order in Nigeria, authorizing the largest military expansion in recent history to combat the lawless militants and criminal gangs plaguing the country. The government has greenlit the recruitment of 28,000 new soldiers and the formation of four new army divisions, bringing the total to 12.

This aggressive move is a necessary response to the persistent violence perpetrated by militant Islamists, separatists, and kidnapping rings that have terrorized innocent civilians.

The expansion will establish three new army headquarters in the north-east and central regions, providing the tactical coordination and rapid response capabilities required to neutralize threats that have spread from the north into southern territories.

This follows a record $4 billion allocation to defense and security in the national budget and the recruitment of 50,000 new police officers. While the military has successfully rescued students and recently neutralized high-level Islamic State leaders in joint operations with U.S. forces, the threat remains persistent.

President Tinubu has issued a clear ultimatum to these criminal elements: surrender or face the full, overwhelming force of the Nigerian state. By prioritizing national sovereignty and the safety of its citizens, the administration is finally moving to dismantle the networks of banditry and jihadist extremism that have hindered the nation for too long.
