During his lengthy time away, Kean missed more than 140 legislative votes, sparking frustration among those who demanded transparency regarding his ability to fulfill his duties. While his aides previously offered only vague references to a 'personal medical issue,' Kean stated that his doctors recommended a long-term hospital stay to facilitate recovery.
