Moscow Escalates War on Infrastructure as German Chancellor Visits Kyiv

Russian drones strike critical Kyiv bridges for the second consecutive day, signaling a brutal shift in tactics.

The Russian military is intensifying its campaign against Ukraine's logistics and infrastructure, launching repeated drone strikes against major bridges in Kyiv.

The Pivnichnyi (Northern) Bridge was struck for the second time in as many days on Sunday, causing significant damage to a heating main and leaving residents in the Desnyanskyi district without hot water.

Footage of the attack shows a drone detonating directly on the roadway as civilian vehicles were traversing the structure, a clear demonstration of Moscow's disregard for civilian life.

These strikes follow a series of attacks on the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge, marking a strategic shift by Russia to cripple the capital's ability to move troops and supplies across the Dnipro River.

While Russian officials claim these strikes are a response to Ukrainian actions against Russian energy facilities, the reality remains that Moscow initiated this full-scale invasion in 2022 and continues to target the essential infrastructure of a sovereign nation.

Amid the chaos, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made a surprise visit to Kyiv, reaffirming that Germany's own security is inextricably linked to the outcome of this conflict.

As Moscow issues threats to foreign diplomats and ramps up its bombardment, the situation in Kyiv grows increasingly dire, with city officials warning that the repeated strikes threaten to render these critical transit arteries unusable.
