The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have launched precise strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon following a lethal attack that claimed the lives of two Israeli soldiers.

The soldiers were killed and four others were seriously wounded on Wednesday when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated as troops were working to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure in the town of Majdal Zoun. This marks the first Israeli military fatalities in the region since late June.

The IDF characterized the attack as a blatant violation of the existing ceasefire by the Iran-backed terror group. In response, Israel initiated targeted operations, including strikes in the town of Tibnin and evacuation orders for the town of Mansouri.

Israeli officials cited the presence of unauthorized military activity and the return of civilians to restricted security zones as clear breaches of the trilateral framework established to maintain stability.

Despite ongoing US-sponsored talks in Rome aimed at securing a withdrawal and disarmament of Hezbollah, the terror group continues to reject the terms, crossing red lines by refusing to disarm.

While Hezbollah persists in its aggression, the IDF remains committed to securing its northern border and protecting its citizens from further attacks by Iranian proxies.
