Tehran Attempts to Extort Global Shipping with Strait of Hormuz Scheme

The rogue regime is maneuvering to impose illegal transit fees and seize control of a vital global waterway while blaming the U.S. for its own aggression.

The Iranian regime is once again playing games with the global economy, announcing it has reached a tentative agreement with Oman to establish a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

While Tehran claims this move is in the final stages, the regime’s foreign ministry continues to deflect responsibility for the waterway's instability, baselessly blaming the U.S. naval blockade for the insecurity it created through its own acts of war. This latest maneuver is a clear attempt to extort the international community.

Reports indicate that Iran is demanding transit fees between 5% and 7% of cargo values, a blatant shakedown that the U.S. rightly rejects. By seeking to gain control over vessels entering the Gulf, Iran is attempting to institutionalize its piracy.

This comes as the regime remains in a state of disarray following the death of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the subsequent rise of his son, Mojtaba, who has remained largely hidden from public view. President Donald Trump has made the U.S. position clear: Iran will face severe consequences if the strait is not opened immediately.

Despite the regime's attempts to portray itself as a victim of 'aggressive actions,' the reality remains that Iran’s own attacks on vessels and its continued hostility have necessitated the current U.S. naval posture. The world cannot afford to let a terrorist-sponsoring regime dictate the terms of global energy transit.
