US President Donald Trump speaks on the first day of the Midterm Republican National Convention in Texas

President Trump has unveiled an ambitious plan to issue $5,000 payments to every adult American should Republicans secure victory in the upcoming midterm elections.

The proposal, announced at a party convention in Texas, was met with enthusiastic support from the base, though it has predictably drawn fire from Democrats who labeled the pledge an empty promise.

Vice-President JD Vance indicated that the massive payout, which would cost roughly $1.3 trillion, could be financed through revenue generated by the administration's tariff policies.

While critics and some economists have questioned the fiscal feasibility and the necessity of congressional approval for such a massive expenditure, the White House remains undeterred. Spokesman Davis Ingle dismissed the skepticism, stating that the administration continues to focus on delivering results despite the doubts of political opponents.

Legal experts note that while the scale of the offer is unique, it functions similarly to traditional campaign pledges regarding tax policy, distinguishing it from illegal vote-buying schemes.

As the election draws near, the proposal highlights the administration's focus on direct economic relief, even as the debate over national debt and federal spending continues to intensify in Washington.
