The Iranian regime has once again demonstrated its contempt for international norms by rejecting the appeal of Lindsay and Craig Foreman, a British couple sentenced to 10 years in prison on fabricated espionage charges.
The Foremans, who were arrested in January 2025 while on a motorcycle trip, have been subjected to a judicial process that their legal team correctly identifies as a total violation of fundamental rights.
The couple was not even permitted to attend their own appeal hearing, a move that underscores the reality that the Iranian Revolutionary Court functions as a theater of punishment rather than a legitimate legal body.
Currently held in the notorious Evin prison, the couple has resorted to a hunger strike as a desperate act of protest against their arbitrary detention.
The Foreign Office, which maintains clear travel warnings advising against visiting Iran due to the high risk of detention for British passport holders, has labeled the incarceration as unjustified and appalling.
This case is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by the regime in Tehran, which routinely uses foreign citizens as leverage in its dealings with the West. As the case moves to the Supreme Court, the family remains in the dark, left to rely on snippets of information from cellmates while the couple's health continues to deteriorate.
